British Airways flight BA158 from Bermuda to London has been evacuated due to a bomb threat.

The flight, operated by a Boeing 777-200ER (registration G-VIIN), was taxiing to the runway 12 when the crew was informed of a bomb threat.

Shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024, police were notified by staff at the LF Wade International Airport of a bomb threat that was received via e-mail.

The pilots squawked 7700 (general emergency) on the ground and vacated the runway before requesting an immediate evacuation.

Police were sent to the Causeway and Kindley Field Road, which were closed to traffic “while the airport building and its environs were searched by airport security”, a spokesman said.

He added: “Once the all-clear was given and the airport was declared safe, regular traffic flow was restored.

The Flight was scheduled to takeoff at 20:50 ADT. The flight was delayed overnight, now due to re-depart from Bermuda to London this evening.

All customers were provided with assistance and information on how to claim for additional expenses such as overnight accommodation, meals and transportation.
