Typhoon Shanshan brought significant disruption to air travel in Fukuoka, Japan on Thursday, August 29th. Several flights were affected due to the strong winds and heavy rain associated with the storm.

One of the most dramatic incidents occurred at Fukuoka Airport, where a Jeju Air Boeing B737-8AS aircraft (HL8089) operating flight JJA1408 from Seoul experienced a go-around during its final approach.

Footage shared on the internet shows the flight JJA1408 swaying from side to side in the strong winds, forcing the pilot to abort the landing.

Other flights were also impacted by the typhoon. An Air Seoul Airbus A321-232 plane (HL8073) was forced to divert to Busan Gimhae International Airport in South Korea, while a Peach Aviation Airbus A320-251N aircraft (JA205P) was forced to return to Tokyo Narita International Airport.

This highlights the challenges faced by airlines operating in regions prone to typhoons and other severe weather events.
