Qatar #QR741 to LAX diverted to JFK to refuel following change of flight path to avoid Iranian airspace.

Qatar Airways was forced to change flight path following drones attack in Israel.

The flight #QR741 from Doha to Los Angeles LAX was forced to avoid Iranian airspace in the night of Sunday, April 14 2024.

The flight was operated by an Airbus A350-1000 (registration A7-ANS). It departed Hamad International Airport 2 hours late because of the ongoing attack in Israel.

Israel and Iran closed its airspaces forcing the airline to cancel the flight or change the flight path.

The path to LAX usually crosses over Iran to go straight North over the Svalbard then Canada and the West coast of the US for a 16-hour flight long.

The decision was took to fly to West, avoiding closed Israel airspace to reach Spain then to cross the Atlantic for a stopover at New York JFK airport.

The plane landed at 11:00 local time and was supposed to refuel before resuming the flight to Los Angeles. However that second legs looks to have been canceled.

The aircraft is currently still at JFK at the time we write this article.
