The incident occurred on Tuesday (4 April 2023) at noon as the ground-handling truck rolled over under the Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 aircraft. The driver driving the catering truck at Frankfurt Airport struck it under the Right Hand (RH) engine.

The extent of damage to the aircraft is not yet known. However, the ground-handling catering truck was severely damaged. The truck rolled and hit the apron area at FRA.

HavaSosyalMedya reports the incident, and they have shared the images from the incident site. Furthermore, it is visible in the Image the truck made contact with the right engine of LH A340.

The registration of the Lufthansa A340 airliner is not shown in the Image. Luckily, no injuries were reported to anyone on the ground or inside the truck.

According to Jetstream, a Twitter user, the aircraft involved in the incident was Lufthansa A340-300 having registration D-AIGP. The source further revealed that the mishap took place at the LH maintenance hangar at FRA.

The Truck belonged to Lufthansa’s LSG catering company. Furthermore, Lufthansa has recently sold its remaining catering unit of  LSG group to AURELIUS Group.

The ground crew then towed the A340. It was then moved to a hangar for maintenance and repair work.

The tail of Lufthansa Airbus A319 was damaged at Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

Another Lufthansa Incident

This is not the first time a ground vehicle hits a Lufthansa airliner. The tail of the Lufthansa Airbus A319 aircraft was found damaged at Frankfurt airport in August 2019.

The registration of Lufthansa A319 was D-AILR, and it landed after taking off from Vilnius and operated as Flight #LH897.

The damage occurred due to a wrong manoeuvre by the driver operating the mobile stairs. Furthermore, the mobile stairs hit the LH A319 on the tail from the right side, and the aircraft was severely damaged by it.
