A Saurya Airlines CRJ-200ER has crashed in Kathmandu

On 24th July, a Saurya Airlines CRJ-200ER crashed shortly after takeoff in Kathmandu. At least 15 people on board have lost their lives.

The aircraft was being ferried to Pokhara for scheduled maintenance. However, it lost control and crashed immediately after take-off from runway 02.

Nineteen people were reportedly onboard the flight and all of them were airline employees.

The captain has been rushed to the hospital alongside three others. Rescue operations are underway.

On 24 July 2024 (2081/04/09), Wednesday, Saurya Airlines Aircraft (CRJ2, Registration 9N-AME) took off from Kathmandu Airport at 11:11 local time bound for Pokhara. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft veered off to the right and crashed on the east side of the runway. Rescue operations were initiated immediately. The fire was brought under control, and 18 people were found dead. One seriously injured person was rescued and taken to the hospital.
